Hello friends,

This is my first post so bear with me.

I’ve always loved using Baidu Cloud.
It gives a huge free storage option and also uploads by using torrent, ed2k links, etc.
Any .torrent I upload gets finished in seconds on Baidu Cloud. But downloading via web app is a bit slow.
Also it doesn’t allow files > 2GB. So we need the Baidu Cloud Butler (Desktop app) for that.

I can’t read Chinese, so it was always a bit difficult to navigate the app.
I translated the text to English in resource.db file.
I used Google translate, and I’m not so sure about some lines’ translation.
Also, some parts of the app use images instead of text, so those can’t be translated.
If anyone finds any mistakes or has suggestions please let me know via comments to this post.

Translation file is for the version: 5.3.4
(the latest version right now).

By default Baidu Butler is installed here:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\baidu\BaiduYunGuanjia\
or just type this in Explorer or the Run prompt:
%appdata%/baidu/BaiduYunGuanjia

There is a resource.db file in this directory which contains the language strings.
Just take a backup of this file. And place this version of resource.db in the folder:

      Hi,
      For chinese users with a chinese phone number just go to baidu.com and create an account.
      For international users go to:
      https://passport.baidu.com/v2/?reg&overseas=1

      Enter your info and create a new account.

      But I don’t see a UK (+44) country code in drop-down. So maybe not allowed for UK.
      Try Pinger: https://textfree.us/
      with a US VPN. Or google voice.
      Or maybe another free SMS receiving service like: https://smsreceivefree.com
      But note that Baidu might ask you to verify your phone at a later date when you login from a new browser or something.
      So, just be careful and preferably use a number you own.

        Just click on the link. Type in password: nemg
        Yes no username is required. This password is for the file.
        Then it’ll take you to the download page. If you are using chrome right-click and translate page to English if you like.
        Click on the download button.

        If you need an account on Baidu you’ll need to create that yourself going to:
        https://passport.baidu.com/v2/?reg&overseas=1
        This is for international users.
        Enter your info and create a new account.

      How do you translate the skin? Replacing DuiStringTable.xml in .zip crashes the client. Any special softwar? Also, I’m using Panyi to translate Resource.db. It seems to work fine, however viewing the file, it seems (what I think is) the footer gets moved to the middle of the file.

    pan.baidu.com link says BaiduNetdisk_8.7.0.apk but is for 6.1.0 when I tried to downloaded.
    And mir.cr link too many ads and not translated version. It’s in chinese.

    BaiduNetdisk_6.0.2 translation any chance? tried to install BaiduNetdisk_5.5.2 – 5.5.5 but it gives an error “file is modified – please reinstall”

    edit. i tried BaiduNetdisk_5.7.1.exe and it worked fine with rash27’s english resource files!

    after long time no use account i had to reactive account because of something law change.
    in this process i had to put chinese recaptcha and then put mobile phone message code (chinese number not needed) in site pan.baidu.com/buy/center (press log in (登录) -> user name (用户名登录).
    after that i started BaiduNetdisk.exe where i had to put code which was sent to my email address and then change password.

      Alternatively, if you don’t want to mess with file permissions, you can edit the update URL in AutoUpdate\config.ini to something invalid like:

      ConfigFileUrl=https://INVALID.update.pan.baidu.com/autoupdate

      If using Windows to edit the file, be sure to use Wordpad, and not notepad, as the file has mixed CRLF and LF endline characters and notepad doesn’t handle plain LF properly.

      This is probably a cleaner solution, as the SYSTEM user can still do a full uninstall and delete the file in question.

    Bad news… latest update version 5.5.5.4 partially broke the awesome translation made by JuGGerNaunT (which still fully works for 5.5.4.1). So far, I’ve noticed that the options menu and offline download menu were affected the most.
    For some reason, Baidu ignores the fact that I have the Automatic Updates unchecked, so downgrading to 5.5.4.1 is not an option…

    Today is May 2, 2017. I just downloaded the BaiduNetdisk_5.5.4.1.exe from Baudi website. I followed the link posted by JuGGerNaunT and downloaded the resource.db.

    As you might notice that Baidu changed the folder name from “BaiduYun to “BaiduNetdisk” therefore BY DEFAULT the file is located at:

    C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\baidu\BaiduNetdisk\

    After entering the captcha, a popup window appears requiring input of another verification code which will be sent to the account’s email address. No patch for this. Can’t figure out where to enter the code after clicking to receive it.

      @JuGGerNaunT, You’ve done a tremendous job translating it. Best Baidu translation I’ve seen so far! The admin should include it in the original post above.

      Not sure if it would work with 5.5.4 though, so I’ll stick with version 5.5.2 for now.

    The Baidu butler has not started to ask for the captcha in chineese and it is impossible to fill the captcha. Any suggestions would be most welcome!!!

      So far, I haven’t found some automated way to do it.

      It’s a bit tedious. Okay, a lot tedious, but we need to put in the captcha only once for a while right? Once logged in, baidu butler will remember you unless you change devices or re-install it.

        @saee: After installing the 5.4.3 version when you login, make sure to go to the Settings -> General and uncheck the Enable Automatic Updates checkbox.

        I’ve also renamed the exe and dll files in:
        %appdata%\baidu\BaiduYunGuanjia\AutoUpdate
        To prevent autoupdate. When I want it to auto update I’ll rename them back to original names.

    I wanted to ask, what does the bell in the right up corner mean in the main application? I was confused after it opened a website and closed after a bit waiting it because I feared something bad (hope nothing happened). I tried to translate the hint “消息提示” with “notification”, but it feels stupid that I could report myself on the interface, I think that at least. Would be helpful if someone would tell me what this button does.

      Ok, after applying TNN´s edited version of this patch I got my answer. The button was “messages”, I feel stupid for asking now, but no translator I tried translated it like that. And applied the wrong version first, so I failed to get it working in first place and stayed in chinese after replacing the file, thanks TNN for the edit. this is really helpful. :3 And a big thanks for all who worked on this, you all have my respect for doing this.

I check this blog daily to see how more I can help.Keep up the “to-do” lists for us… for parents like me that are outraged at this story want to help in any way to see a happy ending to this story. Have e-mailed Oprah, Nancy Grace and Greta Van Susteran a few times encouraging them to cover David’s story. Also sent People Magazine a suggestion too.       Well, %appdata% is an environmental variable, so you can enter it in any Windows installation and it will go to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming.

    (And by the way, Baidu has fixed the /wap trick so this is the only way to download now)
    The default install directory is now “%appdata%/baidu/BaiduYunGuanjia”. Type it in Explorer or the Run prompt.

    How do I open resources.db file in case I need to edit something?
    I tried SQLite but its not working.

      You can open resources.db file in any text editor. I use Notepad++.
      Just note that the file needs to be encoded in ANSI to work with the Baidu App. To read some of the original chinese characters you need to convert it to UTF-8 temporarily. Make changes and then change encoding back to ANSI and save file.
