Fix: Steam logs out every new update

If you have a problem with steam logging you out every time it gets updated, then hopefully solutions in this post might help 🙂

Step 1:

Go to Settings -> Account and make sure this checkbox is unchecked:

Step 2:

When you login make sure you check the box: Remember my Password

Step 3:

Set Credential Manager service to Automatic. Instead of manual:

You’ll find it in your Windows Services.

Step 4:

Steam needs to save credentials in registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam

And RememberPassword needs to be 1. But sometimes even if it is 1, it still doesn’t work. So, log out and then set this to 0.

And login and click “Remember Password” again.

Step 5:

If nothing else has worked, then set Steam to run as an Administrator in Compatibility Settings:

After setting this, steam will show you a warning, that you have compatibility settings on.

But that’s fine, since we haven’t changed Compatibility mode or any DPI settings 🙂

So, just click Don’t show again. Only use this final Admin step if all else has failed.

Because some security setting on your PC might be blocking steam from storing credentials. Which is why changing it to have Admin settings might help.
